London Re-use vans deliver Christmas cheer

London Re-use Network vans have been helping to spread Christmas cheer by delivering hampers to 38 families across west London.

Family Friends, a charity which provides befriending and mentoring services used vans from furniture re-use service, Furnish, to deliver toys, food and household basics.

Chief executive of Family Friends, Flora Taylor, said: “For many families the hampers are the only gifts they receive at Christmas. They don’t just provide treats for the children, but vital extra food to help get through this time of year. I’d like to thank Furnish for putting so much effort into the storage and delivery of the hampers and doing it with such good cheer.”

Items for the hampers were donated by The Junior League, a charity that works to eliminate poverty and its effects in London.
Furnish manager, Mark Hardy, said: “We’ve been supporting Family Friends to do this for seven years now and are so proud to be involved.

“With record numbers of people turning to food banks as they struggle to feed themselves, heat their homes and cope with debt, the hampers will make a real difference. It’s also an act which I feel captures the true spirit of Christmas.”
