Free Paint available for charities and community groups in Hackney!
Congratulations to Forest Recycling Project (FRP) who have been awarded £13,560 by Comic Relief and the Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund. The grant is to give away 10,000 litres of free paint to charities and community groups in Hackney. The paint will be used to improve community spaces, or for groups to pass on to their beneficiaries to improve their homes.
Hackney is one of the most deprived boroughs in England, and the ‘Paint 4 Hackney’ project aims to help those who are experiencing socio-economic disadvantage. The project aims to reach a total of 1,000 people.
FRP’s reclaimed paint project ‘The Paint Place’ collects unwanted paint from Council Re-use & Recycling Centres and commercial companies across London. Reclaimed paint is then redistributed as a low cost, sustainable alternative to buying new.
The Paint Place sells paint from as little as £1 per litre and aims to:
. Divert re-usable paint from waste disposal and landfill
. Provide people and not-for-profit organisations with affordable paint
. Promote the environmental benefits of re-use.
FRP’s The Paint Place also receives funding from London Re-use Limited and Santander.
